awesome, shrimp....never seen one like that before.

where did you buy it from? and how much did it cost??

i had to buy it from etropicals.com

they ship very poorly. i haven't found them locally at all, and people say they can't be kept without an anemone. I think that's because they will be eaten since they're so small. But my tank has no other tankmates other than pods.

I'll try to keep them alive =) Out of 6 ordered, 3 survived the shipping.

also I don't know if these are pederson's or not, they're not at all purple/blue like they should be.

Yah, I think those are just classified as anenome shrimp, as in ? sp. I have had a few pederson's over the years and they where all blue just like the pics of them in books. There body shap is different too. They are normally $20 - $30. EEK!

Those are cool shrimp however. I got one of those off my TBS liverock, well it looked like one of those. It disappeared in my tank.

I found out that 1 of the three shrimp looks different. If you notice in the xenia picture, the shrimp has this crazy green pattern, but i have one that's completely clear.

I'll have to take another picture. I'm very interested in identifying them just out of curiosity. Anyone know a good shrimp guide / website etc?

btw they're so far hosting to the xenia and the zoanthids. i tried feeding them flake today, but no takers. I'll try brine and mysis tonight.

I would ask etropicals where they are collected. That is where you bought them, right? Without that information, searching for an ID would be close to impossible. There is a good chance they got these from Florida waters as I have see very similar shrimp from there. If so, there are some good books that reference the inverts in the area. I would also ask etropicals (or whatever vendor you bought them from) what is up as you didn't really get what you paid for. If I was ordering a glass shrimp, or anemone shrimp, then I would be OK with getting what you got, but when their web page clearly calls out their Latin name. I would expect to get the the right thing in that case.

thanks for the suggestions =) I have emailed them already with exactly that. I'm not entirely dissapointed with the order though, since they are amazing shrimp, but I did let them know I'd like to receive the actual pederson's shrimp. I've sent them multiple pictures from different sources of a pederson's shrimp, and included the macro pictures of my own for reference. I've left no room for an excuse or explanation, it's clear they made a mistake. They're usually very undrestanding, but I've yet to hear from them (since Friday).

I'll keep you guys updated =)

Congrats on that shrimp, I remember there were a few that ordered them in a group buy some time back, and you're right they are extremely poor shippers, so much so many places revoke their live-arrival guarantee
