Mag. In a calcium reactor

About to set up my first calcium reactor, do you run a magnesium component with the calcium media? I have no idea if magnesium is present in the calcium media to start with, or do people just add magnesium media to increase the levels beyond the calcium media?

I've always read to put no more than 10% mag media in.
I put some Neo Mag in mine. Haven't checked my mag in a while though.

I imagine the answer is to test your water for Magnesium and respond accordingly. I use the reborn media in mine, and have always figured that as the media dissolves, it adds elements back into the water in the same proportion that growing corals consume it?

If your water needs mag, I'd think it better done with a mixed solution and then let the reactor maintain it.

Thanks guys, I do believe you get your parameters right first, then the reactor maintains them. Going to use the ARM course size. Just don't know how much it peovides by it self. I did read the 10% max added mag. Too
