Making a False Back Wall?

Alright I know I have seen this done more in the nano forum than in the others so I am going to ask this here. I know acrylic and silicone don't stick to each other that well but would it work to create a false wall in the back of a glass tank and could I get to pieces of acrylic to stick to each other with silicone enough to create a divider in the false wall to separate a return pump from the fuge part?

Sand the acrylic and the bond is better. I put in a fuge in the corner of a 20-gallon long. It will not hold a lot of pressure but as long as the water level is not dramatically different, it will work. You can brace is if you need more support. Mine has been up and running for 10 months with no leaks.
