So I've been using nutramar frozen prawn roe at work and deciced to bring some home. I have not seen the ones at work eating it, but my spotted mandarin definitely came over and fed twice. So I will try sweetfish roe, bigger, but can only be bought fresh. This is good as she was going to have to live in my 40 gal. for a week or two while my 75 is moved and remodeled. Plan on bringing home live brine, trying cyclopeezeand maybe arctipods(they claim mandarins will eat it).

I won a bottle of Arctipods at the Reefstock event and my Mandarin won't eat them. As a matter of fact, none of my fish eat them. My Banggai Cardinal and Neon Goby spit them out.

Anyone interested in a trade for a full bottle of Arctipods?

Congrats on your luck... Our first (green) mandarin was a pig and ate all types of frozen foods - unfortunately he was lost in a tank swapping mishap... We had good luck with brine Frozen soaked in garlic) when we isolated our second green mandarin in quarantine -

Mine eat the oceansnutrition small pellets.

I also never QT a mandarin, but that is the only fish.

Since they dont have scales and a thick slime coat, even the LFS expert says it is not really necessary & you stand a chance of starving them.

Mine is eating the nutramar also. When you get the sweetfish roe, let me know. I'll split with you if you want. I want to get some.

Me.

I also did not QT mine. Mandarins have a naturally strong immune system against most marine infections and/or parasites. And, with more and more quality foods coming on the market, more people are finding mandarins to be far less finicky or picky eaters. My green mandarin eats New Life Spectrum pellets, but doesn't touch any of the frozen foods I feed the other fish. I guess every one of them are different.

I was just feeding the tank & noticed both my mandarins also eat the Hikari Marine -S-. Aqua Imports carries it in Boulder.

It also sinks fairly well so some of it gets to the bottom before all the other fish devour it.
