mandarin with broken spine on back?

I just got a mandarin today. I had ordered him on line. After acclimating and releasing him into the tank, it looks like the spine that sticks up on his back is bent to the side. He was probably bounced around a lot by Fed Ex. I have plenty of copapods and he has done some picking at the rocks. He is skinny and I am worried about that spine. Is he doomed?

The broken spine is a nonissue. Copepod population is key. Many will also eat frozen mysis but that is not enough to sustain long term.

that is reassuring. I am going to try the mysis tomorrow. I was thinking of putting some mysis in a small container at the bottom and hopping he will go in to get them? Otherwise the other fish will just eat them all up before they hit the bottom.

I know I have lots of copepods, but still worried as he is skinny!

Lights are out. mysis in the am (all of this and getting ready for Christmas too!)

Ah, you now are starting to understand the problem of trying to feed a mandarin food other than copepods!!
