Im doing my senior project on mangrove ecosystems :D . Im guna be setting up a vat in the garage/w grow lights to grow them and also hold some extra LR. That or hookup a 20.gal to my 29.gal reef and do and grow mangroves with that and natural sunlight.

Need to know some basic care instructions, any info anyone has on the mangrove ecosystem , and how the help the water quality.

Anything anyone knows about mangroves will do. THX

Oh and ill post pics as im going along with this project

Mangroves are simple to grow i would not grow them in your reef tank as the roots could damage something in a sump there good probly with 2+ inches of sand if your connecting the sump tank to your reef tank there shuld be enough nitrate and other fertalisers in the water to feed the trees how ever if you are building a standalone system then you will need some form of food eather from leef litter to start the cycle or other source ...

Buddy brovo, that was one long a$$ sentence, Ever think of a period in there.

What type of mangroves are you looking at. You probably need specific info i it's for a senior project. I studied them for a bit, have some good info, let me know what kind.

Alright now I need to do 2 interviews. Anyone think that they know enogh about mangroves to let me interview you over IM ?

I dont think anyone here is going to jump up and claim to be an expert. Why dont you try emailing the people at Nova Southeastern University who are running the small aquaculture/ greenhouse facility for the mangroves and see if one of the professors there would be willing to do a quick interview. They will likely appreciate a quick call to their offices instead of an AIM interview. Worth a shot, right? :)

Yea i wasent really looking for experts on here i was just looking for like the average guy who knows a little about the mangroves in there own system, or maybe a little about wild ones.

An experts advice would be pritty good though.

You might want to get some that have already begun to sprout. I have had mine (3 of them) for over 3 months, and only 1 has begun to sprout. *3 leaves*... Anyways, it does take a loooooonnnnggg time, if you catch my drift.
