Mantis Habbits??

I have a hitchhicker mantis shrimp that I am trying to catch. So far I am having no luck.

Correct me if I am wrong but mantis shrimp are not nocternal. I've read that they tend to be shy and stay hidden only coming out to eat or capture food and return to their "home".

I know the rock it is (maybe was) in last time I saw it, but have not seen it moving around in over a week.

He probibly molted. Take the rock out and put it in another tank with only that rock. When he comes out take the rock out. What are you going to do with him when you catch him?

I have a 20 Gal for QT that I am considering keeping it in. From what I have read, they are very interesting creatures.

Well If you need to or want to get rid of him I will take him. Dose your QT have sand?

Have you ever used copper treatments in your QT?

I moved the rock and Mantis to it's new home when I got mine. He's already picked out a nice home, why evict him?

The QT tank is new. Has water from the main tank and a rock with a pistol shrimp (thought it was a mantis). Never been used for anything else.

The rock that the Mantis is in, is the largest rock in my tank. It would really make the main tank look lacking if removed and overwhelm the 20 Gal.

Just remove it until he comes out and try to catch him. Or try to remove the rock when he is out.

by the way, mantis shrimp are not nocturnal, most are diurnal.
