Mantis - Snail cohabitation

Will a mantis that is about 1 1/2" long kill a snail that is an inch long?

Probably a dumb question, but what I'm interested in knowing is if you can keep large snails with small well-fed mantis shrimp. I'm setting up a home for my mantis and have a large welk that's not welcome in my reef. I'd like to put it in with the mantis - rather see it live than become food, but...

You can never tell whats going to happen.I had about a dozen hermits with one of mine for months with no casualties,then one day there were broken bits of shell in the large moon snail shell it calls home.If its alive and with a mantis,sooner or later it will not be alive anymore.Thats my experience.
