Marineland 150 RR cracked from bottom to top

Well yesterday was not a good day, but could have been worse.

Working in Garage and heard loud pop and sound of water spraying. Come in house and the 150 is cracked from the bottom corner to the top and water is spraying out. Long story short saved most of the live stock and was able to coral the water with a crap load of towels so minimal damage to house (tile floors are a big plus).

Frustrated trying to decide if it was a sign to leave the hobby. Called around to local LFS and told them my story and each of them offered to sell me another tank for around $800. Well that clinched it, time to sell it all as I was just depressed. Did a little googling and found out the tank has a lifetime warranty, now I am expecting nothing but a run around and no satisifcation at all.

Got up this morning and called All Fish Emporium and talked to the Manager 'tony'. He was fantastic he looked up my purchase from 2+ years ago and emailed me the reciept, but then said to call Marineland (here we go with the run around) and then to call him back after I talk to them. So I take some pictures and send an email to unitedpetgroup and called them but no answer so I left message (run around is happening full speed). Figure it is waste of time but called again and this time a young lady answered. She said marineland would replace the tank and stand at no cost to me. She also offered to pay for lost fish and replacement sand bed if I got her a quote from All Fish Emporium.

Moral of the story: Marineland has IMO excellent customer service and All Fish is not the miserable company that some people make it out to be.

Yeah guess I better get back on that, group buy. Well maybe I will wait to actually see the replacement tank before I commit to a bunch of pumps.

wow that is great customer support.

....better not mention that to the dead fish police...you know the 1st ones in line when they have a sale or free give aways and then 1st ones to complain lol :deadhorse1:

Is it true that if you dont have their stand built specifically for that tank sold by them the tank will no longer be covered ?

Reason why I ask is because I might get one in the near future just wondering if lifetime warranty still applies with a custom stand since I heard theirs is a bit low..

Wow, sucks that happened, but great customer service.

How do you think it cracked? Im always scared to use the algae scraper near the silicone seals. Wish you a fast and painless transition

well time for an update, the replacement tank was delivered to Tanks-a-lot last week. UnitedPetGroup (aka Marineland) has been exceptional to this point, they are covering the stand and the tank, plus the delivery and setup of the new one as well the removal and return of the old one. To this point cannot say enough good things about them, they are going to replace everything I lost.

Tank was installed today (tanks to tanks-a-lot in Lantana), now just have to be patient and watch the parameters to see if there is any cycle. Used all my old rock and live sand so the cycle if any should be very short.

I will say this the people at UnitedPetGroup are great at customer service, they have agreed to replace all the livestock that was lost during the process (both coral and fish). I would suggest their tanks to anyone, as I am a firm believer that if you make that many tanks one or two are going to fail and then it is all about customer service. (maybe the car industry could get some pointers from them)

Here are a few pics from today. Will post more when I get some coral and fish later in the month.

Time to visit Reef-A-Palooza to get some corals (well maybe just my excuse to go).

I had a marineland return pump that died on me on my previous tank. During macna I approached the marineland people and complained about the pump. A guy at the booth gave me his card and told me to call him monday am. I called and long story short, they sent me a check for the pump.
