maxi jet 900

Im finding that perhaps my mj 900 might be a bit much for my 16 gall bow. it kicks up some pretty good current and Ive got it crossing the path of my ac 20 to difuse the flow a bit.I gotta say its strong ,but its kinda cool, I just dont know if its GOOD that way . can you have too much current........ this morning I turned it so the brunt of the flow is running right into a rock to really break it up, but it is still causing some good movement.I find that depending on how my livestock is swaying I cant keep my hands out of the tank!!.......any suggestions and thnx;)

O.C.D. ;) ... you're probably just trippin' out :P but flow depends on what you're keeping in the tank so since you didn't say anything people probably ignore the post :( If you're simply adjusting the current not to kick up sand and other stuff then it's a task for you alone :P

O.C.D REEF, its a new disorder:D .I have some torch coral some frogspawn, a plate coral, some xenia, and some hermies and snails and a shrimp...........................damn your right Im nuts, I will just let it ride and watch for any ill effects:)

gotta love this reef stuff:eek1:

well i'll have you know I had to get rid of my seio completely in my 29 because my frogspawn and torch hated the flow ... ever since they've inflated beautifully.

P.S. everyone on RC has O.C.D. ... obssesive coral disorder :D

P.P.S. Post a Pic of your setup :P kill some RC bandwidth ;)

you might want to try a hydor flow rotating adaptor... that way the MJ900's flow isnt just going in one direction. it will break up the intensity and give you some random water movement.

I have 2 frogspawns in my 29gal with a Seio 820, mag 9.5 return AND a MJ1200. About 1500gph thru my tank and they seem to love it.

I think you have enough, if things start to look unhappy swap it out with a 600. The Hydor is a good idea, will lower the flow a bit and give you even more random currents.

Impur: I guess it's all about placement ... in which i didn't have a choice with the seio and corals :P

Good point. My frogspawns only get the flow that bounces off the side of the tank. I'm sure that diffuses it a lot.
