Maxijet wavemaker Q

Ok I ask earlier in the week about different hang on skimmers and what kind of powerheads I should get to upgrade my system for sps.

I decided to go with the CSS for skimmer.

I got 2 maxijet 900's and a wavemaker timer. Now someone mentioned cutting off the nozzles on the maxijets ... Why would I do that? what does that accomplish? should I do this?

by doin the maxi jet mod, you allow more water to be sucked in and pushed out. you will however notice that the side the water pushes to, will change when you turn your pump off , then on again.

i would suggest doing the propeller mod, instead of the cut off one.

Alright... how about an explanation of that one too... I'm a woman... DIY projects and "mods" are not in my nature

Basically what you do is replace the impeller head of the Maxijet and replace it with a plastic RC boat propeller. This is how the Tunze pump is able to produce so much flow.

For 20 g nano though, this mod might be a bit much for your tank.
Maybe if you use the smallest 1.25" Dumas propeller.
