May 2007 TOTM Revisited

WOW!!!!!!!!

I think it all has been said about your system.

The colors are so impressive and the PE is out of this world.

Your tank looks a little crowded, If you need help fragging, just let me know and I'll fly up!

Important question so you don't buy the wrong ones. I use 100 micron filter bags and I need to change them every 3 days+/-. That being said, I have 2000GPH going through my overflow which is generally more than most people. So you may need to change yours less. Don't go with 50 micron, fill up to fast. I find 100 micron to be just right.

Hi,250G~

If you don't mind I also have low-end question is about your filter sock ,it is 200 micron or less ? how many days you'll wash or discard with it .

Thanks again ;-)

Thanks! I have generally given up on trying to stop the corals from touching.........I should take a few out. I actually have been thinking of thinning a few things out so if you know anyone in Toronto let them know!

Join the club.

LOL. I was just following the thread because I love the tank. But, I have to say, this made me laugh hard & I don't hate you, just to be clear. Beautiful job you're doing there!:D

Thanks. And good to hear! Some locals may disagree with you - one PM'd me about a year or so back indicating that 9.5 out of 10 people don't like me

They are all re-used. I have used the same filter bags now for over 3 years. Wash and rinse them with warm water, in the washing machine, no detergent or bleach required (or recommended).

Make sure you use ones with an integrated plastic ring to hold the bag in place.........use one which ties to your pipes and you could end up with water on the floor and/or a dry sump!

Hello,250G~

You never wash them just change(discard ) for 3 days +/- right ?

thank you:-)

hey really love the tank, next time you trimming back i would like to get a few off of you so pm me please.

thanks lucifa

Please let me know what your dosing in your tank? Is it bacterial driven? Are you running any type or zeo/prodibio bacteria supplementation? I would love to one day have a tank like yours.

Thanks! And no dosing at all - strong lighting, a calcium reactor and liquid and/or granular magnessium to maintain levels (as the zeo mag in the reactor cannot keep up).

Only one reason - this Ampmaster 3000 is now a back-up for my main return pump (which is also an Ampmaster 3000). The Dart was on the OM 4 way which I came about and was already plumbed...and my ampmaster has been running 24/7 since 2003 so I figured having a back-up sitting beside the one in use just made good sense given the opportunity.

Just curious but why did you change from the Ampmaster to the Dart? And oh by the way nice looking tank:)

Anytime - you may read about some negative experiences with this pump, but mine are all positive (x2 pumps).

um,...yeah....WOW....

Inspiring - I like the way that sounds...I would have done a few things differently, but generally pretty happy with the tank. DJJ

Inspiring!!! Just Awesome!

Thanks all. I will try and get some more pics of the tank, not much new to illustrate as the tank is essentially full. Dave

Well, much has gone on in the last 3 months, part of the reason I have not been online much. Had the house up for sale....sold it a couple times but could not get the price I wanted on my home.

SO - I am finishing the basement and staying a while. On vacation the next two week, so things are progressing. Here is how things look today. Tomorrow, finish the acoustic insulation for the home theater, Monday frame in the fireplace, Tuesday start installing the drywall. Hoping to find someone to do the drywall taping and finishing.....

As the basement main area is L shaped, this is the home theater area:
