I put this in the lighting forum, but I think this may be a better forum for help....
I recently purchased a PFO dual 250 Watt MH hood used.
It has 2 Double ended bulbs. I saw it fire before I bought it & it worked great. It didnt come with the ballast he used to fire it so I ordered 2 Coral vue electronic ballasts.
I also bought 2 new 20k XM bulbs as well.
I had to change the pigtails over from the factory PFO plugs to a normal 3 pronged male plug, & I put 3 pronged female plugs on the outlet of the ballasts. ( 3 pronged meaning black, white, & green (ground). I double checked to make sure the black wire is connected to the larger flat prong on both plugs for each light.
The problem is, when they are turned on , the left side fires for about 5-10 seconds, then shuts off, the right side works flawlessly, I also switched ballasts to check to make sure it wasnt the ballast, & the bulb still shuts off no matter which ballast it is run by.
This leads me to believe it is in the sockets that hold the bulb in place, or the wiring for the left side.
I double checked the plug on the left side which connects the wiring which runs to the ballast, & it is installed correctly.
Is is possible that the sockets could be worn?
I inspected it & the metal clips & wiring that the bulb connects to appear to be clean & in good order...
Any suugestions would be great...
Thanks, Matt
