Metal Halide glass.

Is it better ( or necessary) to use a glass shield between the metal halide light , or should I just hang my pendant bare bulb?
I understand that not using a glass tank cover is better for light penetration. Thoughts? Thanks

You need a glass if it is a DE as they are not UV shielded, otherwise it is better to not have it, however you risk breaking your $60+ bulb if you have jumping fish
