Does this kit (Item Code: ICSPK4 )come with quick disconnects? If not can you buy it seperately? I didn't see any quick disconnects on the site. This is an electronic ballast, right?

Thanks,

The ballast included is an IceCap Electronic Ballast. Our stock turns over quickly, so only the latest versions ship.

The ICSPK4 kit does not come with a quick disconnect cord. It can be purchased seperately. The item code is CQ8111. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=CQ8111 . You might want to purchase this after you have received your set up. I think only about half of everybody gets the quick disconnect cord.

FYI, the ICSPK4 does not come with the power cord. Most people are hooking it up to the IceCap Timer which has its own cord.

Sorry to jump in on your posts slfCaptain but I had a somehwhat similar question. Hope you don't mind too much. :D

MarineDepot, I am going to order 2 Icecap 250W MH 10K soon (item: ICSPK4) and wanted to pick up some 4" Icecap fans at the same time.

Before doing so, how many should I pick up to help keep my tank's temp stay consitent throughout the day? Also do I need to pick up power cords for the fans? Is there anything else I need to get the kit up and running so I can mount it to my 12" high canopy? Thanks

Not a problem Fish-o-holic.

MarineDepot, can the IceCap timer drive any ballast? And, is it safe to wire two 250watt MH icecap ballasts to one timer?

Thank you,

slfCaptain... the new IceCap ballast do not come with quick disconnects. If you would like to add quick disconnects to your setup, I would recommend checking your local Radio Shack: they should have something that you can jury-rig. The IceCap ballasts are indeed electronic. In regards to the timer question, you will need one timer per ballast. Wiring a 250W IceCap ballast to an IceCap timer will definitely not be a problem. As for using the timer with a different brand ballast, it should not be a problem but I would recommend checking with IceCap to make sure.

Fish-o-holic... I would recommend puchasing two fans for your setup. One pushing air in to the hood on one end, the other pulling air out on the far end. You will not need to pick up additional powercords for the fans as they are already included with the fan. Aside from the kit and the fans, all that you shoulde need is a three-wire cord to go from the ballast to the mogul socket and some wire nuts.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Joseph
