Can I mount my mh fixture to the wood on my canopy?
Screw the reflector to the top of the canopy

Yes, assuming you have everything wired and grounded properly at the ballast.

I bought a couple of fixtures, I can plug them in and the lights come on.
Does this mean everything wired and grounded?
I do not want the wood to catch fire.
