MH wiring question

Hello, I have purchased 4 ARO Pro Series 250 watt MH systems from HelloLights and I have a quick question about how to wire them. The wires coming from the mogul socket are white and black, the wires coming from the power cord are white, black, and green. I know I am supposed to connect white to white and black to black but what am I supposed to do with the green, which I assume is a ground. Thanks for your help, I am feeling really dumb today.

Its definitely the ground. There should be a ground screw on the housing you could attach it to. I tried to find a picture of the product on their site, but I cant find a good one. Can you give a link to what you bought?

Im not too familier with aquarium light setups, but Ive done a lot of electrical work. Just make sure you have the right wire coming from the ballast going to the black wire of the base. Some ballast are 'dual voltage' meaning you can run 277v to them as well (like in a warehouse). That wire is usually orange, so make sure its capped off if there is one. A light doesnt need a ground to operate, but you want the housing grounded. The better the grounding, the quicker a breaker trips. A few thousandths of a second could make a difference in how bad something is shocked. I say that because someone might tell you that you dont need it.

Yeah, you got it. Now that I can see the kit, I dont think you have to worry about dual voltage either.
