How I am supposed to get rid of them I have a 75g new setup It's had water in it maybe a week. No LR yet. 2 return pipes and it seem that all the bubbles are coming from the returns. I have a coralife turbo sea 1270 pump.

Try adding a filter sock to the skimmer out put. Also you may have too much flow through your sump. How much do you have? Mayy also try adding baffels. HTH, Tim

My pump is rated 1270 gph but I have a closed loop so I know I lost some pressure. I also have it hooked to a squid wavemaker so I know there is some pressure lost there. I added some sponge between one of the baffles and I'll see if that helps. I hope so I think you're right it's so much flow.

I am batteling microbubbles in my closed loop from a negative leak. I have some sort of pinhole sized leak that does not leak water but lets in air that gets thrashed by my pump and pushed into the tank. If your microbubbles are not coming from your sump it may be your plumbing.

I had a real battle with microbubbles on my 75G as well. I placed a filter sock over the drain line in the sump, and a second one over the outflow of my skimmer. This reduced maybe 20% of the microbubbles and I just could not determine the primary cause of the problem. I was using an 800G return pump that was fed with a 3/4" spa flex from the sump. The return was all hardline 1" pvc. There were no leaks between sump and pump, or pump and return.

I finally decided that my pump must be cavitating, so I switched to an Iwaki MD20-RT return pump...(a real midget). It's returning about 325gph to the tank, and my microbubble problem is over! I use two seio 820's in the tank to augment flow.
