Just wanted to let anyone in the area looking for a mantis know that Aquatic Exhibits downtown Milwaukee has a 5-6" Peacock for 29 bucks. He's a big boy, someone needs to give him a home!

REALLY?! Well my dad lives in illinois, ill see if he could get that one for me. I have a 20g set up, do you think that was surpass the Mantis' needs for space?

Is there a Wholesaler in Milwaukee?? My dad won't buy it for 30 if he can get it for 5 at his nearby wholesaler. But there isnt any there either...

You may be able to talk Aquatic Exhibits down some. Dunno, Ive never seen one as massive as the one there in a LFS. Also, it may have come in with their LR yesterday so if they didnt pay for it.. who knows.

Thats sooo funny, I just took a picture of those guys last week. I just happen to have my cam on me when I saw them. I remember two of them for $39 ea. The crab next door was even more of a bada$$. Let me post... ( they are both the same species)

No, they werent in with the rock, the store is close to the GHETTO where the brothers all buy the big&dangerous stuff like oscars, sharks, etc...so they brought a couple of these 7"+ thumbsplitters in.

The 3 Nursesharks in the 20 long is what made me sad. Did they bring those in for the 4000gallon display and they ended up being too small, or are they trying to sell them to hobbyists? Someones going to want to buy one thinking that size tank is ok for it. Wetworkx, we should hook up sometime and go make fun of LFS! :p

is that the place with the big @ss green moray? that place is totally ghetto!

i'll have to see if they are open on sundays :)

doh, he's already gone! saves me the trouble of figuring out how i'm gonna get the time to get down there :D

hes already gone? There were two though...identical. Creade, doing the LFS hop would be fun, but I cant make fun of them too much because most of them recognize me. Ever been to the best lil' reef store in town 'reef fanatic'?
Aqua Exhibits is a run down lookin', ghetto area, warehouse arranged place but it really kicks ***. It does huge volume and has the cool rare stuff people look for. Freshwater morays, bullrouts, freshwater scorpionfish, sargassum, arrowannas, the 8' green moray&nurse shark tank, big cichlids, tanganyikans, lots of reef critters, nudis, etc. Those sharks in the small tank were the ones that were in the area of the large vat that were with the reef fish. Something tells me that they got big and ate all the other fish...so they are quarantined...but the tank is at least plumbed to the main tank still, so the water condirtions are ok, just a little cramped.
Hey Creade, if we go LFS hoppin' does that mean I have to sit in the back seat of the squad? Or can we be the 'FISH-COPS' and run down owners who put mandarins in little tanks??

Hah. You know alot about the local places im impressed. Most of them know me as well so I suppose making fun outloud wouldnt work. Where is reef fanatic? Im pretty sure ive never been there.
Feel free to email or PM me or whatever so we dont keep making these mantis folk read about Milwaukee!

No harm done I'm sure, since what I am about to say might benefit alot of people from our area that might be reading this...
Reef Fanatic, a small place on the south side of milwaukee, may have changed it's name recently (the online company has the same name) but was started when the hispanic gentleman who owns the place was told by his wife to get rid of all his tanks. So he did...to a storefront. It is a small place, low volume, where this guy runs a very cool place. It is small, but super clean. His prices are cheap as he is just trying to break even on his hobby. His advice is ground in years of his experience. He has been running a 150g there with only 2x175w halide pendants for years as a berlin style setup that has stony's growing like mad. (note: that is just over 2 watts/gallon) The real great thing about the place is his live rock, corals, and reef. I sent my cousin over there to get live rock for his nano. The rock, full of life, was half of what he was paying before for just 'base'!!! The gentleman gets in live rock, then sorts it into vats where he has established colonies of various sorts. You can buy live rock from one vat that is full of sponges, another full of tube worms, another with small corals/anemonaes, etc. The rock is gorgeous. I havent been there recently, but my cousin has, so I will ask for an exact adress and post it as soon as I do. It's on national, greenfield, or oaklahoma just east of hwy 100 by a mile. Ill post some pics of the rock...
