moonlight 24/7

Anyone run their moonlights 24/7? I really light the additional actinic look the moonlights give when my main lights are on and I wondered if anyone has tried this. If not, what moonlighting cycle do you use? How long do you run them after the main lights are off? Do you run them until the main lights come back on? Does extended moonlight time drive your fish crazy??

What are you using for moonlights? I run mine 24/7 but I don't notice them at all when my main lights are on. Your moonlights should be just that, light that simulates moonlight. It shouldn't be any brighter than that or your fish will never rest properly.

To be honest when the main lights are on, I dont think that the moonlights will a affect on the look of the tank.
I only run my moonlights when the main tank is dark.

I have actinics and when they are on the give a more blue look to the tank and corals, it looks great...

I don't believe the increase the amount of light just a little more floresece(sp) to the tank. I think I'll try 24/7

How many moonlights do you have? I have a bar that has 25 blue lights on it. Is this too many?? It isn't overly bright.

how big is your tank? i only have 4 leds on my 75g. i feel sometimes they are to much.

Here is what one of the suppliers of moonlights recommends.

The basic rule of thumb is to get a light for every two feet of aquarium length. So, for the 90 gallon, four feet long tank, begin with two lights.

Is your tank wider than two feet? The LEDs we use can illuminate an area that is two feet by two feet. If your tank is wider than two feet (most are not), you should add lights to ensure that both the front and the back of the aquarium are well lit.

25 lights is way too many!! I have 2 on my 120 and it is just right.

Moonlights do not put off enough light to cause any problems. I have ran mine 24/7 (10 LED's) from the start.

My moon lights aren't noticable with the main lights on. Seems like if they were noticable, they'd be way too bright to begin with. My system has 4 led moon lights and I think they may be too much.
