I spent thousands trying to not spend hundreds. The JBJ heaters are controlled by the same controller that they use in their chillers. IMO they are worth every penny, I bought 8.

I recall a large system fish room build where the guy installed that electrical heating element right underneath the tile into the thinset. (this was big with multiple sections, big display, large FRAG GROWOUT TANKS, refugium and settling tank. And 2 separate dedicated quarantine sections for corals and fish.
But wow wee wouldn't a greenhouse be great? Maybe even add a wing onto the whole house with an indoor tropical garden around the tanks complete with howler monkey's, parrots and palms. Oh yeah and those funny little lizards you see all over the place in the pacific. It would surely help with this snow madness that has set in...
You can use solar hydronic to heat concrete slab to keep ambient around 25c.
Then heater only has to come on if to raise a few degrees at best.
I saw another aquaponic person, who used evaculated solar tubes to with a stainless steel heat exchange to heat 1500L of fresh water, so he could keep warm water barramundy fish in his tank.
I think you can find easier (less efficient) heat exchange however.
I saw another website/article where the guy uses evacuated solar tubes to heat a reservoir to heat his home hydronically. cost him like 4 grand DIY.
Can be justified if you put the cost into home equity rather than fish budget =)
Thats not that big of an aquarium. I had 2x Ebo Jager 250's on my 300 reef. they are UL certified unlike the imported junk. Never any problems. Its kinda funny needing to keep it warm, not cool in So Cal.
I like multipe heaters just for redundancy, 4X300w or 5 would be good, if you want something better try the smallest tankless water heater you can find, and try to wire it into a heater controller
