I have followed the suggestion and moved this from filters, and lights to DIY.
Well I have been working on the tank since Jan and yesterday I was going to be near complete. the Water test last sat showed that my 2x mag-12 pumps were over running the overflows even from the basement. So I decided to put 2*1.5" bulk heads in what a overflow box mounted on the front, so if either gets plugged the one could handle the 1300 gph.
The tank seemed to drill fine, very slow and very wet with diamond bit. there was a cracking noise but we could not see anything. Then on the way home the one hole with the cracking noise spider and sent 2 large cracks across the tank. It is an Allglass brand tank. I thing the glass is 3/8 thick. Has anyone ever put 2 x 2.5" holes in the back of one of these successfully? I am considering smaller bulk heads but would like to stick with these, could it be a structural issue?
I am 99% sure that the tank moved when drilling, but before I get another tank and drill it I would like any ones experiences (we were 99% sure this tank would not split). Note the person actually drilling has drilled over 50 tanks without issue.
