Moving/removing Yuma Mushrooms

Although I like these purple yumas, they seem to settle/spread to all the wrong places. Is there a trick to removing these without removing/breaking the rock? They're winning the war against all my nearby SPS which I would prefer over the shrooms.

Just aim a powerhead at them, they will get annoyed and detach.

I don't have much luck with mushrooms. I'm running ATI T5s. What is the secret to getting the mushrooms to fully open up?
