Moving Tank with Sand

+1 on that. If your keeping the stand and just moving it to the other side of the room, remove what you can from under the tank and in the tank, empty most of the water (less a few inches), get a crow bar (about 24"), lift the corners of the stand as little as possible (and slowly) and slip those "Magic Sliders" from Home Depot under. Then you can reasonably easily slide this across the room. The key it to reduce the weight as much as possible (you can easily side 500 lbs across the room using these) and move it very slowly without any sudden jerking - - - nice an smooth . . . . Tile is the hardest to use these on because of the grout lines, carpet can buckle in from a bit depending on the weight, hardwood is the easies, but get the right gliders so they don't scratch it.

for that small a move, just drain it down and move it over: if you can get teflon glides under the stand, it will help. Put a large mixing bowl onto the sandbed and gently fill water into that, which will keep the water from disturbing the sandbed.
