MRC Sump plumbing question

Hi all. I have an MRC sump, http://myreefcreations.com/reefsump.htm, that I am going to be plumbing this weekend and I am a bit confused about plumbing the refugium. I sent an email to Andy and I have yet to hear back from him so I thought I would throw this out there to see if I could get some help.

There is 3/4" bulkhead from the skimmer compartment to the refugium and I am not sure how I should plumb it using the bulkhead. My questions are, why the 3/4" bulkhead, how is the best way to plumb it using the bulkhead, and what pump or powerhead woud you reccomend I use? If you have any pictures of your plumbed sump I would love to see them. Thanks for your help.

Hey John,
I just received my 36" MRC sump/refugium today and have the same questions that you have. I cannot figure out how to have flow into the refuge section due to the height of the 3/4 bulkhead - water level would be too high which would impact my skimmer and make the baffles a total waste . I did not plan on having to buy a seperate pump to pump water from the sump section into the refuge section - would have preffered passive flow through. Did Andy ever respond back on your email? How did you end up plumbing yours in? Thanks for any assistance.

I also wanted to add that this sump/refuge is very well made and rock solid. This is without a doubt the best sump I have ever owned and that includes a LifeReef sump I used to have. Highly recommended piece of equipment.

Hey guys I have owned this sump for over 4 yrs. It's built in the same design. I had it in my previous 100g and now in my 300g that you see in my avatar.

Here's how I had it setup in my 100g. Like Andy said.. I used a hagen pump with clear tubing to pump into the refuge.
