Does anyone have an extra jar that I can buy? Or does anyone know where I can buy some around Bellflower?

Thanks

Cesar, I have some if you want. It's the real stuff from Mark (Golfish). PM me for info.

People use it to help with maintaining the tanks ph, to maintain calcium/alkalinity and sure pickle making :D

really..lol i have never heard this before.. its not toxic to the fish or corals?... how do you guys do it?...

It's Calcium Hydroxide. In large quantities, it could be toxic for your entire tank. When mixed and added properly, it helps maintain calcium, alkalinity, and even PH. Most people add around a tablespoon per gallon, mix and let settle. The next step is to only use the clear water after it settles and drip it into your tank over time. The clear liquid is very hi in PH and if added to quickly, can raise the PH of the tank to toxic levels.

Same as kalk (kalkwasser, limewater) Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime is food grade calcium hydroxide, it can contain some impurities. Lab grade calcium hydroxide does not contain impurities (or at least it shouldn't)

I've used Kent, Mrs Wages and Marks infamous sack-o-powder.

The Kent leaves very little dark undisolved solids. With Mrs Wages I had a considerable amount of dark or almost black small grains in the bottom of my cantainer after a couple months of refilling without dumping it. Marks calcium hydroxide leaves less than Mrs Wages but more than the Kent product.
I've never had problems with any of them so for me it just comes down to price.
Even though I'm running a CO2 reactor I still prefer to use limewater on my tank. Summer it's about half my top-off and usually in winter all my top-off is limewater. The usual amount in my 350 is 3.5g per day.

How do you guys drip the limewater in into the sump. I usually have to add 2 gallons of top-off everynight. I was planning on using a aqua-lift pump. Would that be too fast of a drip? Should I add a pinch valve to the airline to slow the drip? And should I only add at night or should I also add in the early morning?

Thanks

The new stuff is even better....lets not forget the cost too.

I just can't seem to work this deal out. Nobody wasn't to step up and say its ok. We have 800x50 pound bags instock right now. I just want 40.

Thanks for the update Mark...

I knew 2 bags was the right choice. I'm still in good shape.
