MTC skimmer club!

That's interesting. I also have the EM 300 skimmer and it's using 29 watts on the Killowatt.
I have mine running in about 9 inches of water. Will be interesting how the MTC compares.

I thought it interesting so I have the killlowatt back on the skimmer and going to run it on there a full week this time like i did with the mag18. I have the em300 in about 8.5" of water.

Well, I now have an apex ready controller and waveline DC 12000 on its way!

Have been emailing with RLSS to get what the specs are for head height and so far they've been really prompt to reply and wanting to make sure what I'm getting is what I really need. Very impressed with the company so far.

Also a thumbs up to premium aquatics. Tracking says I'll have it all in on Monday. Which, not sure how I did it as the waveline dc12000 is listed as out of stock. lol

I have a feeling the waveline will be the best option as it has a higher rated max head height over both the mag 1800 and jebao 15000. Can't wait to try them all out.

AND I just got an email from Jeff that he's still a little behind and plans to have my skimmer done by the end of next week!

It's all coming together now.

I'll definitely take lots of pictures. I don't know if I'll post them though... lol

This thread needs a lot more pictures. I think there's only one and it's of a used HSA that wasn't even bought!

The kilowatt shows the EM300 the past week or so has averaged 31.38 watts. It's rated to be 27watts. I also checked the air draw tonight. It's rated for 36scfh. When I first got it setup it was drawing in between 38-40scfh. Now that it's been running for almost 6 months it's hovering between 36-38scfh.

Running dry I would get about 1-2 cups of skimmate a day. Since getting the neck cleaner and running to a 5g bucket I run it wetter and get about 4 cups or more a day.

I've been very happy with the em300 and one of my favorite skimmers so far so it will be what I'll be comparing against for performance and consistency.

I see that you will be comparing the MVX against your current skimmer... one question? Do you have other forms of nutrient export on your system that might adjust if the new skimmer removes more/less organics? for example maybe an algae scrubber that would show more/less growth?

I do also have a turbo L3 ATS. I'll be comparing the mvx in the back of my mind to the em300. But my ultimate goal here is to figure out what setup I feel best using multiple internal pumps, mazzei venturi injectors, and different ways to connect them.

Aka just have some fun. At least for me it will be.

I got the waveline DC 12000 in. This also answered two of my questions.

First was how I got it in the first place when premium aquatics said it was sold out. I had it in my wishlist on their site and when I went to check it it said buy now so I did and it didn't complain so I went through with the order not knowing what to expect. Premium aquatics completed the order and when checking the actual product page it still says sold out.

This is for the apex ready version which they have listed for $279. About $20 cheaper then everywhere else.

Basically premium aquatics sent me the original DC 12000 pump with the apex ready upgrade controller separate. Which was pretty awesome they did that or they could have just canceled the order and say they don't have the exact products I wanted in stock.

Since they did that I now have my second question answered. The original waveline DC 12000 has a head height rating of 19.9' but the newer apex ready model has a max head height rating of 22.96'.

When I asked this to the RLSS rep I was told the upgraded controller fixed some issues and pushed the max head height higher through firmware upgrades.

I had no idea how head height would be increased by firmware updates. And as I opened up the upgrade controller box my question was instantly answered. Not only is the controller upgraded on the newer apex ready model but so is the prop. The upgrade kit includes it.

And with that it's rated now for 22.96' [emoji1]

I'm hoping to see more about your skimmer any day now! I haven't bought a new skimmer in many years, and assuming you have good things to say, will be ordering an MVX soon also. I think I am almost as excited as you are to see what you will have to say about it!
