got a free 120, 24"x 24 x 48 Oceanic RR it is a nice set-up. the only problem is the front glass has a number of scratches on the inside. thier very noticable right now because i just have water in it and against that black background they really stand out. any tips on how to get rid of them.

i saw a commercial a long time ago about a product for eyeglasses to remove scratches. anybody know what it is and if it is safe to use???? Thanks

just don't look at the scratches....you won't notice them that way. I have a 37g oceanic that my 4yo boy ran his matchbox cars on. It needless to say scratched the front glass and I haven't been able to find anything to repair the glass either. Any help would be great, sorry I can't provide it. Good luck

if u can run a fingernail across it and feel it, u wont find anything to remove them ,sorry. u can try a high speed drill with a cloth buffer pad. and find a jewels rouge( think its called selinium oxide? its a dark red powder u mix it with a small bit of water and make a paste, concetrate on a small spot , maybe some will go away. i worked for a old glass co in burlington and we had some luck with it with removing scrathes on windshield.

I had a 100g tank that was scratched up pretty good. That selenium oxide stuff was impossible to find and VERY expensive if you do find it. The best thing I found on mine was the high speed buffer & rubbing compound but it still didnt get the scratches completely out. I ended up buying a new tank. Good luck with yours though.

Thanks guys

Raretangs good link, 1 or 2 hours buffing is not bad. sence i dont have any livestock in it, it might be faster. i can lay it down and go to town.

PS. you cant replace pannels on oceanic tanks thier bonded in the corners with some real tough stuff. i TRIED to take 1 apart 10 yaers ago.. my experance resealing a disasmbled tanks is you have 50 50 chance that they leak within a year.

i found this. what do you think my concern is will it leach any bad chemicals . i might test it in a smaller nono reef tank first. i think ill stick to buffing compound
