My Goniopora

John,

I bought my first goni two days ago. Through your site I have identified it as a G. Stokesi(sp?)After drip acclimating it to my tank water I preceded with my usual 12 minute TMPCC dip(i was going to intercept it as well because RB's are a no no in my system) I have a lower flow area(polyps sway constantly but dont seem bothered by it as it isnt really whipping but just a good sway) that I placed it in, also I raised my lights and put it under a powerhead to keep thel lighting as low as possible. I have target fed it once per day over the past 2 days in an effort to make sure it transitions smoothly.

I have a couple of questions for you.

First, my specimen swelled up much larger in my tank. The thing is HUGE to the point where some polyps are cramped against the back of the tank....Will this hurt it. Some polyps were brushing the rockwork and I had to move the rocks because I knew the rocks would cause tissue damage eventually, but I wonder if the glass is an issue?

Also, what would you expect in the way of polyp extension. I have some that are pussing a good 8" long easily.

Third, assuming this one does well I am interested in aqcuiring a red goniopora. My question is: I always see red ones that have shorter polyps and also the tentacles at where the mouth is seem shorter than the stokesi for example. Is this normal? Are their polyps retracted? I ask only because I prefer to buy a healthy specimen from the outset.

Thanks John
