I've posted about this little guy before, but tonight something happened that made me realize how far he's come and I wanted to post some pics.
I bought a pice of Fiji LR specifically because it had a few hitchhiking corals, one of which looked way too far gone to save but I wanted to try. Here's how much progress he's made:
November 7th 2005. For about a week prior to this shot the rock was in a bucket (with light) and I did daily water changes after smothering him with food in the hopes that he'd take something. This is soon after adding the rock to the tank. At this point he was eating well and getting fed almost daily:
November 25th, he started to regain his colour and I knew he was going to make it:
January 1st:
February 2nd, looking much better. I reduced spot feedings to twice weekly; he was putting out feeder tentacles at night so I figured he was probably getting some of the zooplankton & phyto I add several times a week:
March 8th:
May 12th:
Today - the first time I've seen him produce sweepers. You can see how far his reach was earlier, he's stung most of the zoas surrounding him.
I feel bad for the little zoas (they also hitchhiked in), but not too bad; mostly I feel a little like a proud parent. If he has full colour, puffs up during the day, puts out feeder tentacles and produces sweepers, he must be fully recovered. Now, if I could just ID him...
