I also got some Orange Eye Acan Lord but they haven't colored up to the white as i just got them in today. Also got some free Palys too.

I direct feed (syringe or tweezers) my Acans about 3-4 times a week with mysis or brine shrimp soaked in Reef Chili and Selcon. When I got them about 6 months I had about 6-7 heads. It went up to over 30 heads until RTN destroyed over two-thirds of my colony. I should have fragged them as soon as I saw the RTN, DUMB DUMB DUMB! The photo below is just over a month old. It's up to around 20 heads now.

If you want real fast growth then you want to frag them. Check out the Propagation of Acanthastrea section of the article below. I tried it once. I went from one full head, two one-half heads, and one incredibly tiny fragment to around 6 heads in two months. They all fully regenerated, including the tiny fragment that I didn't even realize was there in the beginning.

I also experimented with placement. The frag placed in the upper peripheral section of my tank had better growth and coloration compared to the main colony (below pic) which is directly 12-15 inches below my halide. I am going to move it. I hope this helps. Make sure and take a photo at least every one or two months and share them with everyone. Enjoy your beautiful Lords!

Cool I have been direct feeding them every other day with mysis shrimp. They are very hungry. The feeder tentacles are always out at night. But i have one Acan frag that is not extending it's tentacles out at night and doesn't seem to want to eat the mysis shrimp? Any other suggestion for that Acan??? The Sweetlips above are doing awesome. Can't wait to frag them as there's 7 heads right now.

Do you turn off the powerheads when you feed? I've never had that trouble because absolutely everything in my tank reacts to Reef Chili which I mix in along with Selcon. I feel that the nutrients that you provide are more important then just feeding large volumes. Put me as first on your list when your ready to frag. I'd love to trade with you.

Ok i'll let you know when i start to frag them. I do turn off my powerheads when i feed. All my Acans are hungry except that one frag. I rarely see any feeding tentacles on that frag either. All my others the tentacles are out and healthy.
