i just set up a small critter keeper for a mantis. it has 2-4" lr and a small piece ofmlr. But where is teh filter?
this my friends is genius (so genius im sure all of u r doing the same thing with ur mantis tanks hehehe) im using to identical small pumps to circulate water between tanks. this eliminates the need to take up space with heaters or filters. this is neccesaary for me because my critter keeper is 1-3 gallons. so basically im running a sump with phosphate sponge, carbon, and a uz sterilizer in a 3 gal tank.:)

Great Idea, BUT!

This may sound like a good idea but have you made plans for what happens if one pump goes out? Eventually one may get clogged or one may burn out faster than the other. Hope you did or set it up to run with one or none if the power goes out. Just dont want to see you end up with a huge mess! Good luck with it! :D

OH CRAP...... hmmm, maybe ill just get 4 pumps i dunno

ps if u have any ideas to help me give me a ring

Sorry to rain on your parade but even if you use 100 pumps it still does not help the problem if the power goes out. Unless the 3 gallon is positioned higher than your main tank. Even if it is the 3 gallon will still empty back into your main tank. Best bet is to just make it it's own tank.

i found a 4 inch heater at my lfs, ill just use that and a cheap little filter with phosphate sponge and carbon in it
