I bought the pom pom at Fish Man. It looked great in there display tank. I got it home and now it don't want to open. I have tried it at the top of the tank and the bottom. I had the best luck with it on the bottom of the rock wall near the substraight. My lights are retro fit. 3 day, 3 atinic. each 96 watts for a total nearly 600 watts. atinics come on at 7:30 am day lights at 8:00am. daylights go out at 8:30 pm atinics at 9:00pm. I have a 180 gallon display tank with about 3000 gallons of flow per hour. I dose daily phytofeast, and rotifeast.

I have had this guy almost a week and it dosent look as healthy as when I bought it. any tips would be helpful.

Check all paremeters. If they are all in check, try placeing it in a dimmer part of the tank. Give it a few days there. Xenia does not need a ton of light.

I've heard of many people with pristine tanks that are unable to keep xenia.

Post your tank parameters. How is everything else doing, and what else do you keep?

I will also add that Fish Man's coral tanks are not the best set ups. I'm guessing those tanks are very full of excess nutrients, and sometimes xenia seems to do better in that environment. If your tank water is very pristine, it may not like it as well.

If it does turn around, keep it isolated so it doesn't spread all over the place.

Thanks for the advice guys. My parameters are: ammonia 0, nitrate 5.0, nitrite 0.0, Ph 8.3. i am going to do a water change tonight. I also keep Green Star polyps, blue and red mushrooms, fuzzy mushrooms, goniporia, barnacles, zoos, sun polyps, long tentacle plate coral.
