My Sharks in HD

Sorry to hear about the leak! That's the reason that I haven't cut through the two 90 mil EPDM Firestone pond liners to install any bulkheads. I don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the liners and I can keep my options open for future changes. The only downside is that I have to prime the hammerhead and Blueline HD that powers the skimmer sometimes, if the power is out for long stretches.

I'll definitely send some pics. If I can I will today.

As earlier promised, heres some pics of the new pairs of sharks:

Lenny is the mascot.

(I hope my order is the same way the pics are posted)

Pic 1: Lenny (26"-28" Male Brown Banded) and his Big Babe (24" B.B.Bamboo Female)
Pic 2: Lenny and one of my Gray Bamboos. Notice size difference and the gray is only about 4 months younger than the BBBamboo)
Pic 3: Coral the 24"-25" Coral cat shark.
Pic 4: Coral again.
Pic 5: Lenny

more pics of some sharks (sorry some are a bit out of focus, but you get the idea).

You will also see a pushin' 10 year old Domino Damsel.
Biggest Damsel on the PLANET!!! JK JK, but he's the security guard of the pond. Any new fish get interrogated and beat up a lil bit by Domino. Hes about the size of my hand, at least 6 maybe 7 inches and thick to boot.

A simple fish but I enjoy him none the less.

Hey G, Thanks for the pics! :) Lenny is a big boy! Love the "security guard" :D Looks great mate! Thank you for sharing...

Thanks for the kind words!!

I know somebody on here has them, I believe it might have been Alprazo, but if anyone has B. waddi could they please contact me?
That's the Blind Carpet shark indigenous to Aus. Im interested and have some questions. Thanks.

Griseum,

I have pups around 18 inches. They seem to like the cooler temps I have them in my subtropical system that resides around 62F. They eat like pigs. They also came with more parasites than any other fish I've ever had.

Do you have a source for these? Also, if someone from native waters is familiar with these, please chime in.

Alprazo- Thanks for the response. Im extremely interested in these and the other carpet sharks of Australia, Ive also been reading about all of the more recent Eppie spp. like Milne bay and etc. that have been found. Im in the process of looking for a source throughout AUS. I haven't had any luck yet. I know many people before me have tried this as well, with out luck otherwise we would be seeing some of these more diverse species. Im pretty sure the Brachaelurus genus only contains the two species. But theres a ton of other sharks Id love to get my hands on groups of.

I imagine your pair at 18" will have to likely grow atleast another foot and change before becoming sexually mature with the large average adult size. I was hoping maybe for CB juvies.

Ill be moving to a new laboratory focused on Aquaculture and research and Ill have a bigger budget at my disposal. Im hoping to bring with me something different to study and spawn.

I was also very interested in the C. indicum and C. burmiensis but even though they seem to be a Food Fish and extremely abundant, there are no wholesalers/collectors carrying them. I was hoping to get a box of C. indicum from BorneoAquaLink as suggested by Chris A. but they seem to have vanished. I found myself trying to read Indonesian fish forums with their version of a more phonetic English and from what I read they were saying that BAL went bankrupt.

Bummer. Very interested in those two smaller Chiloscyllium spp. as well, also because they have some nicer patterning/coloration.

PM me if you have any suggestions!!!
Thanks in advance.

Wow nice tank! cant believe how good it looks with all those sharks and the mixture of fish, will definitely be tagging along for this :) and there's me thinking of upgrading to a 125 gal would be expensive!

Shark Substrate.

LOL. With the milk crates in these pics it reminds me of the vast ocean Plastic Gyres.
I really need to get rid of them lol.
But i thought the pics of the sharks piled up on top of each other and in the top right of the pics too, was pretty neat, sans milk crate.

Im literally minutes away from going somewhere that has an Apex package already prepared for me if I decide to purchase at a great deal. My major need for acquiring it are to be able to monitor and control from away from home. Can anyone with experience with controllers, specifically the Neptune Apex, if its worth the investment and realistically can help me troubleshoot problems while Im not right next to the entire system?

The remote control and monitoring is the single reason Im going to make the purchase. The text and Email alerts are crucial as well.

I'd really love to hear anyone's opinion on how it holds up when not being used in person, but rather, being used through the web and apps? Would you trust your system for the entire week by monitoring it through the Apex, and then getting back to maintain in person on weekends, hypothetically?

Im torn.

The system is already as natural and sulf-sustaining as any aquarium system could ever be. Its pretty much self sustaining, with various nutrient exports and complete plankton (zoo- and phyto-) sources throughout. Ive even added several dozen live-bearers to a tank in-line with the rest, so there will always be juvie feeder fish and Im "Sterilizing" a large Killi population to enter the pond as a shoaling dither/feeding opportunity.
There will always be a "tank-sitter" present but I need to know ASAP when something's not the way it should be so that there is an immediate alert. Will I really get that with the Apex?

Only trigger in there is a Melichthys indicus. Id have sharks missing eyes and fins if there was a titan in there ! LOL
Perhaps it was one of the two big fat Vlamingis?
Have had the MI for about two years in there and hes a beast! He can hang with any fish in there. Super fat too.
The food ive been using has really brought out amazing reds in the Soldierfish that are in there too.
