I am about to start and stock my 30 gallon sps tank. my question is will this be enough ? i have one 250 metal halide 10k , and two Antic 96 watt pc's . i have a mag 9 for the sump and a mag 7 closed loop for added flow. my question is will this be enough light and enough flow? thank you for your response ...

Plenty of light, you may want to think about a couple of seio's though once things start to grow out a bit.

Agree, however I would do the seio's from the get go and nix the closed loop. You can manipulate the flow by moving them around. With the CL you are pretty limited. With the 30 gal you'll have plentty of flow with the seio's.

you dont think in a 30gal the 9.5 for the return and a mag 7 isnt enough ? I though it would have been ok ???

Maybe, but for reference I have a seio 1500, a seio 820, and a seio 620 plus a mag 7 retern in a 50 gallon tank, and I still think I could use more.

SPS love flow, when they start to grow and fill in they block their own flow with their branches and the centre may start to suffer/die.

I have a 2600 in a 40 breeder and I don't think it would be too much flow but they are VERY big. I might try to do a few of the smaller Seios.

how much bigger is the 2600 over the 1100 . if it is close i will just go wtih the 2600 . also if you look at my post you will see i have a 9.5 for return and a mag 7 for a close loop with loc line on the two returns i have also attached a squid for alt flow. will the 2600 be too much , or the 1100 to little ?

I think a 2600 would be a bit rediculus. I think you would be better off with 2 620's or 2 820s, in addition to what you already have.

IMO you should go ahead and go with what you have now and add more later if you need to. Especially if the Mag 7 is on something like a squid or sea swirl.
FWIW, Chris

Be careful. Mags are known to leak when used externally. I had to put a bead of superglue around the impeller housing to keep one sealed. Seios do work well in smaller tanks and also draw very little electricity.

thanks for all of your adive. i think i will go with what i have and maybe add 1 1100 in the corner. do you think this would be ok? thank you .

This is a dumb question and a little off topic, but I think one of the hardest things is pronounciation because most of what I/others learn is read. How does one pronounce the seio brand "s eye o"?

Others I had problems with in the past.

Wrasse formerly Race
Refugium
Halide Hal ide vs Haylide

And don't even get me started on the Latin Names.....
I am sure this is a common problem!!!!

see-oh? r-***? ref-yoo-gi-um? hay-lide?

im english so however i pronounce will be wrong to you.
i think the best bet would be two small seios in each corner.
