my wrasse just snapped

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any problems with a lunar wrasse killing it's tankmates? I got this lunar wrasse about 5 months ago, and has been perfect until this week. Two days ago he picked the eyes out of my royal gramma, and yesterday he killed my pseudochromis. I don't want to get rid of him, but these actions are unacceptable. Also, he would be a tough one to catch. I didn't think they were supposed to be aggressive. All of my other fish can hold there own, so I'm not worried about him attacking anyone else, but I thought royal grammas were supposed to be pretty tough also.

Lunar wrasses are one of the most aggressive wrasses that I know of, and I would recommend removing it immediatly for the sake of your other animals.

I remember when I used to work for an aquarium service company, one of the techs put a lunar wrasse in a doctors tank, within a week seven fished had jumped the tank, turned out the lunar was stalking them at night.

I have a friend who said his lunar wrasse was a terrible fish. He experianced the same thing you are as the fish got bigger.

if you check with the guys in the FO forum, they'll tell you that Lunare Wrasse' can be very aggressive...even when housed with Triggers.

I work at a LFS, we had a Lunare a while ago that was purchased and then returned three times within a month. Each time customers were warned, but underestimated the fish's capacity for wreaking havoc. One couple lost everything - shrimp, fish, crabs, you name it. Beautiful fish, but they can be absolutely vicious.

I had a Lunar Wrasse with a Volitan. The two were fine together for months. Then one day, the Wrasse started breaking the fins off the lion. The lion was swimming vertically in place so it's poisonous dorsals were sticking straight out in its defense. The Wrasse had already broken off half the lions pectoral fins.

The Lunar Wrasse quickly found himself back at the LFS.

The LW is a beautiful fish and adds lots of character to a tank, but they are very mischevious.

I had a yellow-tailed damsel "go off" on me like this and start killing his fellow tankmates, including other damsels. Once they start, they don't stop, get this creature out of your tank.

We have a lunar that I am positive that his parenatge is 1/2 Great white shark. Anything that enters the tank is considered food...ex. my fingers, net, other fish. He attacks my hand and has drawn blood on occasion. They are beautiful but vicious.

They are very beautiful fish, but I am somewhat happy to say he is now in the hands of my friend at the LFS. The LFS I got this from played me for a sucker and I haven't been back since I got him. Good LFS' are hard to find, but when you do, they are a good friend to have. Oh, and by the way, the pop bottle trap really does work. I was a little skeptical at first, but I caught him in a little under 5 minutes.
