Nano frag room build...

Hello to all...(sorry for my english, i'm french)

I shall like making a frag room in my apartment but I really have no place 43.30 inches ²...

As I have no place, I think of making 2 tank stacked with a shelf
I bought three tank in food plastics of 23.6x15.7x7.8
Here were one plans

The frag room will be independent and I do not want skimmer.
I thus have the idea to use the cheatomorpha to purify the water and participate in the oxygenation.

Think you that the cheatomorpha will have enough light under the eggcrate?

Thank you
Jo

I am not a big fan of cheato in the frag tanks. (Just my personal opinion). Also, you'll probably need 4x24 wt T%'s to get corals to thrive Vs survive. Good luck. Pictures are a must have once you start the build.

i would increase the wattage on those t5's if i was trying to get frags goin.

I would have agreed with you guys up until about a month ago, when i setup my two bulb T5 retro.

I thought it would be a good way to keep energy bills down while i wait for the frag tank to fill out (its two feet wide, i thought only lighting 10" would would work well...). Well i ended up bleaching some encrusting montis, and the acros and other high light corals i have are right under them (5" below water surface, light is 12" off water). Everything looks great, and recently was able to get a par measure.

With just those two bulb, 12" off the water (corals 5" under surface) i am getting a little under 340 mE. I could probably get that number up to around 450 if i dropped the lights to sit on the edge of the tank, but keep corals at that level would be difficult since i have a mixed tank.

The jist of what i am getting too:

Two T5's on a good ballast (im using an advanced T5HO), with good reflectors (im using Ice cap SLR, some say they are OK reflectors) and good bulbs (im using Wave Point 12K) will be plenty of light for a 10-12" wide area of tank. If your tanks are only 12" wide and you are going to have some softies in there, use the lower lit areas to keep them there.
