Nanocube Quarantine Filtration

Hi all,

I'm setting up a nanocube 12gal as a quarantine tank and wondering what to do about filtration. My current thought is to use an established sponge filter (sitting in my main tank about a week), activated carbon, and a poly-filter. The first creature I plan to quarantine there is a clam. Do you think this will be sufficient? What else should I add, if anything?

You will need a good light (MH) if you want to quarintine a clam. They live metabolicaly on the edge so if you do not have a sufficient light on it, the clam will not make it. As for filtration, putting the sponge in your main tank will work very well. Good luck.

The Nanocube DX has 2 24W 50/50s. I was thinking to elevate the clam so that it's nearer to the lights, maybe a few inches from the surface. Might that be enough light?
