Today is the first time I used synthetic (mixed) salt water for my weekly water changes. I usually buy Natural Salt water from the LFS. I wanted to know if there is a difference. Which is better to use? And is it ok to alternate weekly between Natural and Synthetic water for the changes. Thanks.

I would think the natural salt water would be better, but that may depend on where its collected, and if it was properly sterilized. For consistancy synthetic salt may be a better option. Just my opinion.

There is a company do delivers salt water to all the LFS and some peoples houses here in SOFL. they say they get it from 1 mile out and 1/2 mile down...but who knows. Since Ive set my tank up last Feb, thats all I've used. I get 10G from Exotic Aquatic on Oakland every week and have never had any problems. Ask Rob the Owner about it, he will tell you more about the company who delievers it. IMO you don't need as many additives but I still put in a few here and there. Also take a look in the group forums, there is the FMAS page with all local info about the club and people there cane answer more questions about the delivery of Salt Water since I know a few of them who have large systems have it delivered directly to their houses.

if it is cheap, accecable, clean, and relieable...use the NSW. otherwise i would make my own. i guess i'm always leary of the NSW that LFS get...but live in South Dakota and nots our in FL or cali
