Ok, I need expert help, please!

I would like to purchase some Coral, no softies though. I want something that is hardy, unusual, colorful!, slow growing, and not invasive. I have looked at so many different ones online I can’t keep them straight, much less remember one from the other. Also for those who order online which ones handle these Lovely’s with TLC?

TIA,
doshia

You have to decide further if you want lps or sps: they are compatible, but difficult to place, and the lps is more forgiving of light. You don't say size or lighting. I have had good luck with liveaquaria.com---clean frags and healthy. One rtn loss, but the others thrive and grow. You'll want to look at dipping after receipt, to deal with red bug and other pests.

Dipping in what and is this a common problem with Stonys? Also how long is this dip and is it dangerous to other inhabitants?

What size tank are you running, and what is your lighting scheme? Filtration type, how long has the tank been up, etc? All of those can be factors in what types of corals will do best for you.
LPS- Large Polyp Stony Corals (Lobophyllia, Caulastrea, Euphyllia, etc)
SPS- Small Polyp Stony Corals (Acropora, Stylophora, Montipora, etc)
This designation is pretty arbitrary though. Many people associate SPS corals with high light, high water flow environments, and LPS with moderate light and less flow- neither of these assumptions are always right. Best plan is to find out what specific types of corals interest you and work with those, rather than trying to generalize into 2 big groups.
