Need help building a skimmer

OK, I got a 5.5" piece of acrylic tubing. its 12" long how can I make this into a skimmer. I'm ok with working with acrylic and have the supplies just need a plan. The simplier the better. I was thinking of trying to duplicate an MRC because they look pretty simple.

any ideas or pics or plans would be great.
