I have a 40 gal tank without a sump--I had a single float switch setup with a 7 gal bucket under the tank with a powerhead--well anyone who has tried this setup knows what happens--Ive herd good things about the Tunze top off systems but want to know more and which system I should purchase--Im not worried about cost as long as the floor stays dry :)

Thanks in advance
Jeff

For a sumpless system you want the Osmomat. The Osmomat is basically an Osmolator contained in a box equiped with a small pump. This serves a few purposes. The box keeps snail and such off the sensors, it also protects them from light so algae won't grow on them. The small pump inside greatly magnifies surface change as the water flowing through the box creates a drastic drop inside the box with only a mm change in the tank. The 5017 controller is quite sophisticated and virtually eliminates the risk of overflow. The primary sensor is an optical sensor which utilizes an infared LED to detect changes in the water level, it is precise to within 1mm. The system has two back up safeties, a float switch which shuts the system down if raised and a 10 minute countdown that only lets the pump run 10minutes continuous and then shuts the unit off and sounds an alarm.

rvitko--thanks for the info--That is what im looking for--
Do you have a part or product # and place to purchase??
I see on marine depot they are out of stock on the osmolator-and im not certain that this is the same unit you are talking about-
thanks again in advance

JEFFTHEREEFER - I think you'll find that only Marine Depot or Premium Aquatics sell these. You'll also discover that due to limited supply and great demand you'll need to get on the waitlist (4 - 8 wks) to obtain one, but worth the trouble IMO. I have the Osmolator Universal 3155 and couldn't be happier with it.

Yes, the Osmolator is out of stock, I hope to catch up soon. Actually though, you want the Osmomat it is article number 5024, not 3155 which is the Osmolator. These are in stock here and both Marine Depot and Premium keep them in stock. Champion Lighting also carries our products and could special order an Osmomat.
