im thinking of putting fuge 30g on my 180g tank but at a loss where to start. im not a diy person but willing to give it a go. i dont want to drill my tank as it is allready set up. in my main tank i have a lip which holds the glass in place any ideas would be most welcome thanks

the fuge is going to be in another room/cupboard. im going to hopfully run tube though wall but the problem i have is that i have a 2 inch lip on the inside of the tank the tank is 180g and is allready setup so i cant drill.the tank i want as a fuge is 30g.(any ideas how to get round the lip inside the tank)i have seen the way you have done your and they are top notch well done
anyway thanks in advance

since you can't or dont want to drill the tank our first problem will be that lip, is it exactly 2" from the front of the lip to the back of the tank?
I was thinking we would have to put an outside overflow box but the top of the tank may be to wide for it. i dont know if a "U" tube would work here, not the average one anyway.

this is the DIY section, we will figure something out, or maybe someone else who had this problem can chime in.

For an overflow box look up marinelands they have a nice one rated for 600gph i think and i have one and it is adjustable up to 2" should work perfect. The problem you gonna have is the gravity issue the sump will need to be directly under the overflow box for optimum flow.

yes it is exactly 2" but with glass thickness it would be 2and half inches drilling is a prob due to 2 thinks 1tank allready setup 2 i dont know how old the tank is the odds are 50/50 as to weather the glass will break ?

your best bet is to first see if you can find an over the top overflow box that would fit on the 2 1/2" lip, call some stores or website stores that sell them and ask.
