I just checked my water and found the salinity to be 1.0235 to 1.024. Not sure how long it's been like this. Have been keeping it at 1.025. It is 10:00 pm here and I have no way to get salt from LFS. If I wait 12 hours to get salt will I have a major issue? Is there any thing I can do now? Once I get salt how fast can I bring it back to 1.025 and is 1.025 good number to hit?

HELP!!!!

Calm down this is not a major problem. Everything will be ok. Your salinity will rise as your water precipitates. I wouldnt worry about that small of a drop. Now if it was around 1.020 then I think you would have a problem. Salinity is always moving alittle bit. You can raise it right back to 1.025 once you get some salt.

not really a problem, you can raise it if you like. on your next waterchange just mix your make-up water to a higher sg, say 1.027, that will slowly bump the tank;s sg up.

Whoa dude. No need to panic. I try hard to keep mine at 1.025 but it goes from 24 to 27 all the time. As long as it's a gradual change, it's not a big deal. I've got an anemone and starfish too and they're not bothered by it. B-Ionic says on the bottle that it can raise SG with continued use and it's something to monitor. Don't know if you use it but that's one idea. Also, are you using a refractometer? If not, spend the 45 dollars, go over to DIYreef.com and get a premium blue.
I worry much more about alkalinity than SG anymore. I've found it can be a lot more of a PITA trying to balance it out with everything else.

Thanks,

I do have a refractometer and checked calibration (its dead nuts on). I also have a auto top off system that keeps the water level very constant. What I believe made the salinity drop was I have sold some things out of my tank and frags, which caused me to take salt water out, and it was replaced with fresh water. If this was the cause I will have to monitor the levels when doing this in the future.

But it is good to hear that the drop I had was not a big issue.

Again
Thanks
