Need some advise

Hi all,
Would Kaudern's Cardinal be a good first fish for a 90 gal reef tank?
And if so......should I get 2 or 3?

My system will be up and running for at least 2 months before I put any fish in the DT. I have just finished my cycle and today makes a month.

So....what I am thinking of doing for my first fish is to get 1 or 2 Cardinals now and put them in my 20 gal QT for the next 4 weeks.

Does this sound like a good plan?

I think that sounds fine though I did have a Bangaii harass a new leopard wrasse for quite awhile. I eventually found a new home for the Bangaii even though I loved it. I loved the leopard more. I think they're very beautiful. What other fish are you planning on keeping?

Also, it is generally considered impossible to positively sex Bangaiis. So you'll want to put two in your QT knowing you may have to remove one if you see aggression. That's really the only way to pair them. Also, if you can get two that are hanging out together at the LFS, you've got a better shot they're m/f.

You will find them to be most active at night. I believe they are nocturnal in nature. Or at least crepuscular. I hope I used that right. I've been waiting to use that.

Rereading your original post, 2 only, no 3's of Bangaiis. There are some other cardinal fish species you can do trios or groups of but not Bangaiis. You will see them in groups as juveniles only. Or in the LFS tanks where their crowding and general disorientation helps prevent aggression.

Thanks, I'm hoping to pair her up when I get my tank finished but its so hard to sex them. Ive tried twice now with no luck.

Thanks guy's......well, I had a change of plans. I picked up 2 pajama cardinals also known as dotted cardinals. The lfs only had 1 kaudern's cardinal so I opted out on just 1.
As far as the rest of my fish wish list, this is what I'm thinking....

1 - lawmower blenny
2 - percula clowns
1 - diamond back gobi
1 - flasher wrasse
1 - coral beauty angel
1 - green mandarin

And the cardinals are nocturnal........Small Alien.
I did some research on them.
