Need some tips for my Chaeto

I am having no luck with my Chaeto. I've been messing around lately with flow but I can't keep it rolling. Catches something ( heater, PH, rock) and stops. Seems to slowly be dying. I think maybe I need a better light, I'm using a 18W strip light like for a small 20 gal tank. Could this be a problem? I thought I read somewhere that it is not real picky about lighting. I think it is just a aquarium grow bulb.

Any tips or pointers, Please!!

BTW it is in a 10 gal sump under my 55. About 5 gal is fuge.

Peace!

Well, LFS told me to get crappiest yellow light I could find and use it. So that is what I did. I'm using a 18W PC flood Lamp similar to the Melev lamp.

We will have to see what happens with it.

That lamp should do well over a 10 gallon sump. You also might want to try adding some iron in small doses.

There are two really good recent posts on chaeto and refugiums in Anthony Calfo's forums. I read them last night. Lots of advice on flow, lighting, dosing and getting the chaeto rolling including a couple of pictures.

I have have gotten the tumbling going good. I was getting a green slime slime growing in the sump before I got the flow going. Does Cyano Bac. come as a green form? I thought from what i had read that it was red in color. I was just wondering if it was cyano bacteria.
