After a few years without a tank I finally made up my mind to set one up. I decided to go with 150 gallons mostly because I felt it would be easier to keep the water parameters in check.

The stand, which I built myself, is 60"x24"x39"(L/W/H). Made mostly out of 2x4 and 2x6.

Initially I wanted to build the tank and sump as well, but after trying to get first the acrylic then the glass here in Monterrey, and not succeeding, I went to a local builder and had it made. It was the first time he'd done a coast to coast (C2C) with beananimal so I had a hard time explaining to him exactly what I wanted, but after a while he got it and I'm pretty happy with it. The dimensions on the tank are 60"x24"x24 and the sump is 45"x24"18"

So that's where I'm at right now. Still have to finish painting the stand and putting doors on it and build the canopy. Save up for a controller (Apex), another 2 lights, a second return pump, and I'm on the fence on whether to get a gyre or some Jebao RW-8

Nice build!!!

Now you can start filling it with fish and corals.

You might have trouble keeping the sand in place with a Gyre, several people have complained that it picks up a lot of fine sand

What optics did you use on that buildmyled fixture and how do you like the color blending, does it give lot of disco effect?

I went with 90° optics because I just ordered one. The other 2 I'll probably go with 75 or 60. The blending is pretty good, almost no disco effect, just a little bit when the whites are on 100%

Thanks, the stand took me about 3 weeks to build. I only worked on it for an hour or two every other day

Update

Had a problem with ich and put all (4) fish in hypo quarantine. A few days in had a little accident with the ATO which led to rodi being siphoned in for about 24 hours. By that time damsel and six line were dead, yellow belly followed 2 days later and watchman goby 3 days after tang. DT is now fallow with about 6 weeks left to go. Zoas, toadstool leather, chilli, mushrooms, hammer and duncan doing fantastic. Not to mention CUC and pods, seems like pods took over everything. Will get some pics of the corals sometime this week.
