That should be Dardanus pedunculatus. Indeed not suitable for a coral reef since he feeds on anemones, gets quite big (10 cm) and is correspondingly rough. Some specimen shall feed on Aiptisia – but not all. Feeds on brittle stars too.
Moving day! His shell seemed to have quite some trauma to it (probably from collection), so I presented him with a nice, new, shiny shell today. Also quite a bit bigger. After dipping his claws in for all of 20 seconds to make sure it was suitable, he dove right in! Then he spent the next few hours moving his nems to his new home.
