ReefM@ster, those are very nice clams, but I don't think they are a true "black". They are what most would consider a very dark brown (kind of hard to tell from the photos).

Many will color up very close to black if you put them under very intense lighting though. I am sure you will be very happy with them.

For the most part, 3 out of the 4 are still alive today and doing great. The third clam from the right was doing great one day and the next day, dead like that. I was really bummed out as that was my favorite. I did get another small clam recently but haven't had the time to take a pic of it yet.

I saw these clams at Anthony's house in person. One of them was indeed a true black/white maxima. The rest were close.

The person who bought the true black/white maxima got an AMAZING deal on it. That particular clam could have probably went for 5 times his asking price.

Black maxiamas are very cool, I have one that I traded my old decorative coral for, I had it in a box from a fish only tank and it was just collecting dust. They do get darker with more light.
