Ok here I'll give you guys some info on the tank and then the clam him self.

My tank has been setup for about 8 or 9 months. Is is really stable and my Acroporia, montiporia, various LPS and softies all do great. The tank is a 20L with a 150 watt 20K MH. The clam is about 2.5" long and a concaca. He is right under the ligh on a mall pile of LR rubble.

So are there any things I need to keep up with, or things to ake shuire that hes ok. I know I will probibly have to feed him some so I plan on bowl feeding. He seems to be responding to the light well, opened right up, and will close if i run my hand over the light.

One thing is he never completely closes, he clamps but dosent get completely closed. Is this bad or is that ok? thanks

Nice clam. It's ok IMO that it does not completely clamp shut when disturbed, the fact it is reacting quickly is a good enough sign. Just maintain good water parameters and you will be ok; ALK, CA, etc.

Thanks he looks geat and I hope it stays that way. Once he attachs to a peice of the rubble I'm gonna move him up in he rock anc get a good top down shot, he has purple and green in a cool pattern.

Yo nice clam. Putting him on the LR rubble is a good idea, but if you can try putting him on a solid rock piece as these guys are rock boring clams. Your tank environment is great for this guy, the only parameters I would worry about are the calcium, alk, mag. Having a calcium of about 430ppm is idea. The only iffy part of your system is its size when concerning feeding. IMO you do not need to take him out to bowl feed him, he is large enough to get it from the water when you feed the tank. Only thing to really remember is to turn off the mechanical pumps (like carbon HOB) etc while feeding and turn it back on an hour or so after.
A lot of clams do not comepletely closes, so no worries. I just created a new website dedicated on clams, click the red house on top of me. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Yea When I feed I turn the flow down real far and then take off the filter sock and the pre filter spoung to let it flow through my system. I will get on getting him to a larger rock, I'll let him attach to a peice of the rubble then find a nice place for him so he can get good light and be seen. I was pretty shure he was fine but just wanted to make shure. On your site it talks about them being more open and that lets parasites in more, what can I do to deal with this? Thanks guys and great site Electrobes.
